1. McMenamins
McMenamins is the biggest and among the oldest brewing company in Portland, Oregon. It was established in 1983 by the McMenamin family. Their very first brewpub opened in 1986 at Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard. The company does not solely operate breweries but also owns hotels, spas, theatres, cafes, and concert venues.
Today, the McMenamins operate 24 breweries and brew pubs around the United States. Their brewpubs have a rotating tap list of their signature ales, ciders, and wines and serve gourmet dishes. Moreover, they have bottle shops where you can buy the beverages you like to take home.

2. Deschutes Brewery – Portland Public House
Deschutes Brewery has become well-known in the Downtown Portland area thanks to its extensive tap selection of 26 types of beer, ranging from seasonal ales and experimental brews to fan favorites like Fresh Squeezed.
The brewery is famous amongst locals since it caters to large groups and has plenty of communal tables, making it ideal for late-night get-togethers with friends or work colleagues. Additionally, they have in-house Executive Chef Jill Ramseier, who crafts the most fantastic pub dishes cooked with locally-sourced ingredients.

3. Great Notion Brewing
Greet Notion is a microbrewery in Portland that has quickly become widely recognized as one of the city’s premier destinations for beer lovers seeking intense aromas and flavors. Great Notion now has two other locations in Washington and California. The brewery also ships beers over 12 different states around the U.S.
Great Notion shines when it comes to fruity, hazy India Pale Ales (IPAs), barrel-aged sours, and stouts. The brewery’s taproom in Portland serves a wide selection of good beers and a mouth-watering food menu. Additionally, you can get a flight of five different beers you want to try.

4. Cascade Brewing
Over 20 years after its founding in 1998, Cascade Brewing is a pioneer in the sour beer movement, something founders Art and Ron never imagined when they left Portland Brewing to create Cascade.
Although Art and Ron started as experts on traditional ales, they grew tired of IPAs. Cascade took a chance on brewing sours, using the region’s wealth of fresh fruit, and it paid off with medals at the Great American Beer Festival. Today, Cascade has three sites around Portland, and their Barrel House offers over 20 taps of different sours.
- Crowd Favorite: Kriek. A barrel-aged sour with Bing and sour pie cherries contains 7.4% ABV.

5. Breakside Brewery
Breakside Brewery has been a Portland staple for almost a decade, and the brewery’s excellent beer lineup continues to win accolades year after year. Breakside swept the board, taking home multiple awards at the Oregon Beer Awards, and it was named Brewery of the Year 2021 in its small category.
In 2017, Breakside opened its new taproom in Slabtown, a lovely neighborhood between the Pearl District and Nob Hill. The taproom features a two-story building, a full-service restaurant, and a great selection of 16 beers on tap.

6. Ruse Brewing
Ruse Brewing excels in every area of artisanal beer brewing. The owners, Shaun and Devin, brew mixed-fermentation farmhouse ales, sours, and stouts, in addition to their entire gamut of IPAs. The brewery only brews small batches of thoroughly crafted beers that reflect Portland’s community and culture.
Ruse Brewing also works with different artists and musicians to design their beer logos and develop concepts for their brewery. Their Southeast Portland taproom is open daily and has a great selection of craft beers.

7. Hopworks Urban Brewery
Hopworks, like many Portland breweries, is committed to environmental responsibility and supporting the neighborhood. They use organic and local Salmon-Safe hops to brew tasty and guilt-free beers.
Its fantastic beer and delicious food selection are its notable features. You and your companions will find something you like on the brewery’s extensive menu with modern takes on bar staples like juicy burgers and tasty appetizers.

8. Gigantic Brewing
The former head brewer at Hopworks Urban, Ben Love, owns Gigantic Brewing. His passion, love, and dream of owning his brewery led him to establish Gigantic. Today, the brewery has two locations in Portland’s Southeast and Northeast districts.
Gigantic Brewing Company bears a distinctive label on each beer they produce. Every time Gigantic puts out a new release, they hire a different artist to create the cover art and a unique poster to celebrate the occasion. Owners/brewers Ben and Van came up with this original concept.

9. 10 Barrel Brewing Co.
10 Barrel Brewing was first established in Bend, but after a few years of success in the craft beer industry, the brewery opened taprooms in four other locations. 10 Barrel’s Portland taproom officially accepted customers in 2015.
Its Portland Taproom in Pearl District offers a pleasant setting for drinking because of its lofty ceilings and lovely open air. Its rooftop is also one of the best spots in the taproom to unwind. Additionally, twenty different beers are available on tap regularly and change every few weeks, so you can try a unique brew every time you visit.
- Crowd Favorite: Nature Calls. A piney, juicy, innovative American IPA with tropical fruitiness contains 6.5% ABV.

10. Wayfinder Beer
Wayfinder is a lively award-winning brewery with a festive atmosphere that attracts hundreds of customers. The brewery focuses on crafting out-of-the-box, and great lagers made using both traditional and modern brewing techniques.
Wayfinder boasts one of the most excellent patios in Portland, and its in-house butcher and baker make excellent use of the wood-fired grill and stone oven for making their delicious food to complement their magnificent brews. Wayfinder’s perfect cocktail menu sets it apart from the rest of Portland’s breweries.

11. Ecliptic Brewing
You can find many great breweries in Portland, but Ecliptic Brewing is one of the most interesting as it appeals to local foodies and nerds interested in outer space. John Harris, a brewmaster, owns this regional brewery with an innovative fusion of beer making and astronomy.
Ecliptic Brewing takes its name from the Earth’s elliptical orbit around the sun, and its menu reflects the changing seasons. Several of their brews, like the Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale and Phobos Single Hoped Red Ale, have names inspired by celestial objects.

12. Baerlic Brewing Company
Baerlic is an independent microbrewery that has three sites in Portland, Oregon. The brewery draws inspiration from the past to create modern beers that go beyond the traditional ingredients of malts, yeast, and hops. While there may be some out-of-the-ordinary options, many beers here will be familiar.
Baerlic’s taproom has excellent natural wood and vibrant, modern decor, making it a vibrant place to chill. You can also order a ranch pizza if you want to munch on something while enjoying their brews. Additionally, although their Southeast site usually offers beer tours, it is currently unavailable due to COVID-19.

13. Upright Brewing
Upright Brewing is your place if you love good vibes and music. The brewery is fond of Charles Mingus, an upright bassist and musician, so they made him their inspiration for the concept of their brews. Their beer cans and logos are designed and feel like aesthetically pleasing music albums.
Mingus’s creativity is also what inspires Upright’s out-of-the-box brews. The brewery focuses on crafting small batches of beers with great character and flavors. And just a heads up, the tasting room is temporarily closed due to a water main failure but will resume operation once they finish fixing the problem.

14. Laurelwood Brewery
If you’re looking for a family-friendly brewpub in the neighborhood, go no farther than Laurelwood Brewery. All of their guaranteed organic and free-range cuisine and microbrews are fantastic. Laurelwood not only produces its organic beers but also offers a wide variety of specialty beers throughout the year.
Laurelwood also serves gourmet food to tickle your tastebuds! The taproom has around 14 beers on tap, cocktails, and wines. Laurelwood is a family-friendly brewery with a kid’s menu for the little ones.

Level Beer’s brewery and beer garden is on Northeast 148th Ave, which features 17 signature beers on tap and 3 guest beers. You will find the brewery fun and engaging because of the game machines on-site, which customers can play on. 17. Von Ebert Brewing
If you are into European-style brews, the award-winning Von Ebert Brewing has the suitable craft for you. The German heritage of the brewers influenced them to create both traditional lagers and newer, more experimental craft ales. One of their IPAs won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival, so you know their brews are good.
Von Ebert is also a very friendly brewery where all kinds of people are welcome. They are against racism, discrimination, and others, so you will feel safe when visiting this brewery, no matter your race.

18. Sasquatch Brewing
Sasquatch Brewing, a long-time popular hangout for West Hills locals, has recently made its way into the wider Portland beer scene and even took home gold at the Oregon Beer Awards. Their Northwest taproom and brewery make small batches of tasty beers and ciders.
Sasquatch Brewing is also recognized for its perseverance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the brewery has overtaken direct-to-consumer sales by having an in-house delivery staff delivering beer at thirsty Portlanders’ doors. Today, you can find their products in bottle shops and brewpubs.
